Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
Screen Time Overlay is designed to help you notice how long you spend on your phone. Your privacy is central to how it works.
The short version
Screen Time Overlay does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, and it stores nothing off your device. Everything the app does happens entirely on your phone. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers.
What the app accesses, and why
- Display over other apps: to show the timer overlay on top of your screen. The overlay only displays a timer; it does not read or capture anything on your screen.
- Foreground service and notification: to keep the timer running while you use your phone, with an ongoing notification as Android requires.
- Screen on/off and unlock signals: to know when to start, reset, and pause the timer. These signals are used only in the moment and are not recorded.
- Your settings (such as position, size, and escalation levels) are saved locally on your device so the app remembers your preferences. They never leave the device.
What the app does not do
- It does not track which apps you use or how long you use them off-device.
- It does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, files, or messages.
- It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or any third-party SDKs that send data anywhere.
- It does not create an account or require any sign-in.
Data retention and deletion
Because nothing is collected or sent anywhere, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. Your locally saved settings are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
