Screen Time Overlay / Android
See how long you've been on your phone.
Time you've spent on this page, counting since you arrived. Exactly what the app puts on your screen.
What is Screen Time Overlay?
Screen Time Overlay is a free Android app that puts a small, see-through timer on top of whatever you are doing. The moment your screen turns on, it starts counting. Lock your phone and it resets, so the number always shows your current session.
Most phones bury your screen time in a settings menu you check once a week and forget. This keeps it in front of you in real time, so you notice the minutes adding up and decide to stop.
One visible number, five loops undone.
Every one of these runs on the same trick: you lose track of the time. Screen Time Overlay puts the time back where you cannot miss it, and the grip loosens.
- 0100:12:00
Doomscrolling
One more headline, then one more, until the dread is the point.
You catch the climbing number in the corner, and the spell breaks.
- 0200:38:00
Zombie scrolling
Thumb moving, eyes glazed, no memory of the last ten minutes.
A live count is the one thing your eyes snag on mid-autopilot.
- 0301:15:00
Brain rot
The fog after an hour of clips you will not remember tomorrow.
Watching the hour rack up in real time is your cue to close the app.
- 0401:52:00
Popcorn brain
Switching so fast that one quiet task starts to feel unbearable.
A steady, always-on number gives you a fixed point to slow against.
- 0502:30:00
Revenge bedtime procrastination
Taking the evening back from sleep, then paying for it all day.
By 1 a.m. it is red and pulsing. Hard to keep scrolling past that.
Make the invisible visible.
One small timer, always on your screen. You see the minutes stack up, and every one of these loops gets easier to walk away from.
Set it up once. See it everywhere.
- 01
Turn it on
Give the app permission to show over other apps. Two taps, no account needed.
- 02
See the timer
A small timer appears in the corner and counts your screen-on time on top of every app.
- 03
Notice, and stop
When you watch the minutes climb, it is the nudge to lock your phone and move on.
Made to inform you, not get in your way.
Escalation
It gets harder to ignore the longer you sit
Turn on escalation and the timer slowly grows, turns amber, then red and pulses. A quiet hint at ten minutes, impossible to miss at two hours.
Session
Always your current session
The timer starts when your screen wakes and resets when you lock it. No daily averages, just how long you have been on right now.
01:24:07
Placement
Put it where you want
Drag it to any corner. Set the size and how see-through it is, so it informs you without blocking what you are watching.
Quick-hide
Hide it for a bit
Watching a film or on a call? Hide the timer for 5, 15, or 30 minutes and it comes back on its own.

Your data never leaves your phone
Screen Time Overlay has no account, no analytics, no ads, and no servers. It only shows a timer. It cannot read what is on your screen, and your settings are erased the moment you uninstall.
